Healthy & Happy: Ally's Favorite Meals!

Hi Everyone! 
Today I am sharing a typical day in the life of my meal plan.
I always have three meals and a few small snacks. I don't calories - I eat when I feel hungry and I stop when I feel full.  I do watch sugars and refined carbs and look at adding fibre where I can.
As most of you know my weight is something that I struggle with, but I have managed to successfully lose 50 pounds and keep most of it off for over 3 years now. Like everyone, I am human and sometimes I gain a little bit of weight. To be honest right now I am about 10 pounds more than what I want to be. That is exactly why I've teamed up with Newport Skinny Tea to do a teatox, clean eating and daily workout plan!

As mentioned before full fat greek yogurt is one of my favorite things in the world. Everyday for breakfast I have a cup, topped with seasonal berries and a handful of raw almonds. 

Prior to losing 50 pounds I used to love having store bought yogurt parfaits - with extra granola. Little did I know that this was not a healthy choice and that it was full of sugar, bad carbs, and the wrong kind of fat and calories. I also used to think that I was doing myself a favor by making sure the aspartame laced yogurt was 'fat-free' - bad move! This high protein, good fat, with just the right amount of crunch breakfast, is the perfect substitution. Plus by assembling it at home I'm saving on all the icky preservatives and saving myself some cash- for shopping!

Lunch is definitely one of my largest meals of the day! I always try to have a big portion of protein [at least 6oz] I also don't avoid yummy things like avocado and feta cheese. I do tend to make my own dressings or just stick to olive oil and lemon juice as store bought dressings usually have lots of extra sugars - which I try to avoid. I also sometimes use fresh salsa instead of dressing - Seriously Yum!

One my biggest 'rules' is having dinner early, I usually have dinner by 6pm every night. 
Because I live in Vancouver, Canada - I have access to the best fresh fish, I tend to have a lot of salmon for dinner. I also love roasting my veggies and I even have some yam fries - just not too many!
I follow dinner with a dog walk and then a yoga class or some extra cardio. If I am feeling like a late night snack I will normally have an apple with a tablespoon of unsweetened all natural almond butter and a cup of Newport Skinny Tea.
