Harrison is 1. Where has the year gone?!

When parents talk about the days being long, but the years are short, it's so true! It feels like it was yesterday that Christian and I brought our little guy home for the first time. Nervous and excited about what was in front of us. Then, you wake up, and he's 1.

Since the year flew by, we wanted a 1st birthday party that allowed our friends and family to enjoy themselves as much as Harrison's little friends. After looking around at venues, we decided that the only place that made sense was our home, as it is baby-proofed and filled with Harrison's favourite toys.

As for the theme, we quickly decided on urban woodland camping. With views of the mountains from our home, and this gorgeous little tent, from Domestic Objects, that Harrison loves playing peek-a-boo in, we knew it was an adorable and baby-safe way to bring the outside-in. And, who doesn't love watching littles ones pretend to camp!

Since Christian works a tonne and mommy life keeps me busy, we knew we needed help. Fortunately, Taffete, the same amazing team that helped me with design & decor for our wedding, was keen to take the lead on executing my vision. And, they did an incredible job! The scenes were adorable, with cute signage, and plenty of wood, greenery and natural fabrics to create a thoroughly rustic-outdoor feel. And, most-importantly, the day was executed flawlessly!

Particularly adorable, was the photo backdrop scene, of the tent, flanked by greenery-balloons and a banner celebrating Harrison's big day. Friends and family, and all of Harrison's baby-buddies, had their photos taken in front of it by the amazing Taya Photography.

For food, we served all of our favourite camping-related snacks and treats to the adults. Little ones had their pick from a buffet of pouches, cookies and veggie & fruit finger-foods. And, the dessert table was a hit, with a stunning naked cake as the centrepiece, from Sweetly Sifted, that I fell in love with. It was important to me to skip the usual fondant and design-heavy kid's birthday cakes, to give our guests a more delicious and woodland-feeling treat (complete with chocolate pinecones!).

And, when nap time called the little ones away, each of them took home a customized gift of a woodland-themed set c/o Skip Hop - a matching water bottle and snack cup. So cute!!

As a thank you for attending, adults were sent the family portrait photos taken in front of the tent, This was important to me, since I know how hard it is to orchestrate a nice family photo. Adults were also given a 1 year old cedar sapling. It was our small way to leave the world and our city a better place, as well as create a number of trees that can grow with Harrison - and, in a few years, take him to visit!

It was an amazing and magical day for our little family, and I can't wait to see what the next year brings for my sweet little boy.

My thanks to all who made Harrison's big day possible:

  2. Moreover, if you love to pendown your thoughts and verdicts, you can do well. Article writing ( https://rankmywriter.com/essayshark-com-review ) is not a big deal. All you have to do is to write the points, make your article informative and crisp.
