At Home Mani Masterpieces

I love shopping for beauty products, especially nail polishes! While I love a great salon mani and pedi as much as the next girl, I really enjoy doing my nails at home, particularly because that means that I can experiment with as many different colors and styles as I like. I love experimenting with different styles and trends that perfectly compliment my outfits. As the weather gets warmer, I’m really loving soft, muted tones, especially pink, blush, lavender, blue and mint. And it just so happens that these colors are also super on-trend this season.

Today I wanted to try one of my favorite nail trends for Spring, which is also super easy to do at home. First, I filed my nails into a soft oval shape, which I think looks best on most hand shapes and is easy to maintain at home. I used the Quo nail files seen below which are perfect for natural nails.

After I was happy with my nail shape, I applied a great base coat. I only recently started applying base coat, and it really makes a huge difference and my mani’s last way longer! Today I’m using Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat. I can be a little impatient with waiting for my polish to dry, but luckily this one dries super fast.

Then I applied two coats of a soft white. (You can totally use a brighter white as well but I love the way that the soft white compliments the muted colors I picked for my design.) Today I’m using Revlon Color Stay Gel Envy in ‘Sure Thing.’ (I also love this colour on its own.)

Now this is the fun part, where you can be a bit of a nail artist! I picked four of my go-to shades for Spring and dabbed my nail in an abstract pattern, while layering them to create a watercolour effect that is reminiscent of a pretty bouquet of Spring blooms. I chose soft mint, Misslyn no. 567: Neverland; pale blue, Essie ‘Bikini so Teeny’; Peony pink, Loreal ‘Wishful Pinking’; and a pretty lavender Sally Hansen Insta-dry in ‘Leapin’ Lilac’.
Then for my final step I reapplied Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat to finish the look and keep my mani shiny and chip-free!

Let me know what you think and what your favorite Spring nail trends are.
